Road to Copenhagen
The threat to the climate is the critical issue of our time. Therefore, an international collaboration project has been started between the Club of Madrid, consisting of former Heads of State and Presidents, the parliamentary network, GLOBE, and the business network, Respect Table.
The collective name for the group is Road to Copenhagen. Leading the initiative for Road to Copenhagen are Margot Wallström, Gro Harlem Bruntland and Mary Robinson.
The objective is to gather knowledge and good examples of climate change work and contribute to achieving an ambitious climate agreement at the UN’s climate conference in Copenhagen 2009. It is vital that the business and political communities work together to avert the climate change crisis.
The main activities of Road to Copenhagen 2009 are:
-
Climate change meeting in Almedalen, on 28th June in Visby hosted by Governor Marianne Samuelsson.
-
The Climate change meeting in Brussels or Malmö combined with Copenhagen in November, just before the UN’s Copenhagen meeting to summarise Road to Copenhagen’s contribution to the negotiators.
